The Concertgoer

STATUS: Completed

When a couple finds the Shostakovich concert they had planned to see is sold out, they are guided to an obscure garden where they find The Concertgoer, silent and still, lying on a brick slab. When the music piped in turns out to be horrendous, the couple is determined to figure out the truth of the elusive Concertgoer.

Is he sleeping? Is he dead? Or is he the greatest music lover who ever lived?

Dennis Pahl, who wrote the original short story, and Gregory Cioffi, who wrote and directed the piece, team up once again, this time meditating on silence and sound, while also setting the world of mundane commercialism against high art and spirituality.
